Tacto: a chair in delicate balance, just before touch
The Tacto chair, designed for the Spanish brand Uneven.objects, is a visual metaphorfor touch, embodied in a restrained yet expressive form. Its image is shaped by the subtle interplay of elements, forming a composition that pauses in themoment. The chair’s surfaces approach each other, halting at the edge of merging — as if the structure is held together not by fasteners, but by mutualconsent. The name Tacto refers to the Latin tactus — “touch, sensation, delicacy” — and serves as an homage to the idea of structural balance andsensitive connection.
The chair’s graceful silhouette is formed by the grouping of simple volumes that emphasize its sculptural quality. The rounded backrest, flowing into therear legs, gently supports the monolithic seat, which is joined to soft front supports. Together, they create a harmonious union that conveys architecturalsolidity and reliability. Tacto’s aesthetic speaks the language of closeness and care — universal forms of tactility that bring people together.
