Apposta modular sofa – after the trends

The modular sofa Apposta reflects on our relationship with the rush to stay current. We have already been through the “new,” the “newest,” and the “even newer.” Its form therefore feels familiar, perhaps even a little excessive, yet it is in no hurry to follow the taste of the moment. There is irony in the way it regards the constant succession of trends. Its honest form does not dress itself up as a passing fashion. The sofa makes no secret of its desire to be noticed, but it does not promise to reinvent the future. It arouses curiosity, draws people closer, and appeals for what it is.

The name explains the sofa’s only apparent carelessness: its unusual volume, folds, and contrast of materials were all conceived apposta—on purpose—as part of its form. Apposta consists of independent modules with generous seats and low, gently curved backrests. They can be brought together in an extended composition or arranged separately. The soft volumes define the overall silhouette, while the loose upholstery, turned edges, and visible seams preserve the identity of each element. The modules allow for different configurations, from a linear sofa to a composition at the centre of a showroom or lounge.
