Immette armchair – the form of entry into the flow

Fabric armchair: ID LS/0112 Designer: Sergei Lvov

The Immette armchair explores the point at which the distance between oneself and what is unfolding begins to disappear. Observation gives way to presence, and the boundary between the two loses its definition. The name derives from the Italian immettere – “to enter, to merge into a flow.” Immette addresses this elusive transition: one that becomes perceptible only once it has already taken place.

The form of Immette unfolds as a single movement. Its volume curves around the deep seat before continuing freely downwards into the soft lines of the legs. Backrest and armrests are drawn into a continuous contour, dissolving the distinction between individual elements. This continuity creates an enveloping spatial condition, allowing the idea of flow to become inherent in the armchair’s own form.
