Arpon — tension of form and structural strength
The Arpon chair, designed for the Spanish brand Uneven.objects, is a mediator between engineering thought and cultural memory. It is inspired by the Camp Olímpic de Tir amb arc pavilion in Barcelona, designed by Enric Miralles in 1989. It pays tribute to geometric rigor and tangential curves — shapes that seem to emerge in a moment of internal structural tension. The name Arpon (“harpoon”) is a metaphor for precision, tension, and strength. It simultaneously evokes two images: a sports crossbow and anchoring knots — technical elements used in structural fastening.
The form of Arpon embodies at once a fragment of engineering structures, an echo of the shooting pavilion, and an artifact of an architectural era. The steel legs resemble construction supports, with deliberately exposed welds and technical joints. The T-shaped backrest merges structural originality with ergonomic curves. The curved seat appears to yield under inner stress. A visual focal point is the stainless steel connecting element, which ties the chair’s components into a unified composition. This exposed structural detail is intentionally revealed, becoming part of an expressive language in which honesty is considered an aesthetic.
