Relica console – a new wholeness of fragments

Relica console – a new wholeness of fragments

The Relica console explores a monumentality created not by a single heavy volume, but by the balance of individual fragments. The name refers to the architecture of ruins, whose appeal endures even after the loss of their original integrity. It is a neologism derived from the Latin reliquum, meaning “that which remains.” Columns, walls, and stone planes continue to exist as a unified spatial image. Traces of the past retain their material strength and become the basis of a new design language.

The composition of the console is built on contrasts of form, scale, and direction. Following a triadic principle, the same marble acquires different spatial interpretations: the cylindrical support is perceived as a solid volume; the vertical slabs as thin planes; and the top as an extended horizontal plane. The physical weight of the stone remains perceptible, yet the asymmetry and openness of the composition free the object from visual heaviness, turning it into a distinctive architectural accent.
